Blast Off! Leo's Outer Space Birthday Party
Tai and I held my little boy, Leo’s Blast Off space-themed birthday party a few weeks ago, and I'm beyond thrilled to finally share with you some of the party photos and all the details!
Leo has become such a fan of planets, solar system, and most importantly, space ships the past year! So I knew when he turned 4, I had to throw the most epic space party for my little astronaut.
The party was hosted at my back yard which worked perfectly for hubbie’s Brazilian BBQ grill plan (we almost always throw a BBBQ for birthdays 😉). We had about 40 guests, including 8 kids at the party. To create a deep space vibe, we planned the color palette of onyx black, with silver and white peppered in. For the main table, we built this super cool balloon cloud with a giant sparkling number four foil balloon to mark this milestone.
The two-tier cake was another masterpiece from talented DH Cake Studio. The cake was topped with to the moon cake toppers that features adorable shooting star, astronaut and space rocket designs and they were a hit at the party! Daphne also made us these super fun space cakepops that are extremely addicting! I think Leo might have had a least 4 of these😱Oh well… he’s the birthday boy so how could I have said no, right?
Our guests loved the space-themed partyware that I prepared, including the space plates rocket cups. Aren’t they so perfect?
We also set up a play area for kids on the side with a cute tent and an awesome space rug with to the moon garland and this amazing rocket mylar balloon on top. These cool space elements really helped set the scene of the party and of course the little ones had a blast!
For the party favors, I deliberately steered clear of sweet treats for health reason. Goodie bags may seem trivial to the whole party planning extravaganza but oh boy do I love putting thoughts into goodie bags! I always make sure to include meaningful and thoughtful party favors that are themed specific at each of Leo’s birthday party. This year I found this whimsical glowing kaleidoscope and these super cool racing rocket pencils that are great for pre-schoolers. With these less-than-1-min DIY party bags that I made with with the space sticker sheet, they made perfect gifts to send our little guests home. I absolutely loved how they turned out!
We're lucky to have our talented friend, Ana, who made the sweetest video that makes me smile every time I looked back at it. I hope you enjoy it too!
xoxo, Yao
